LC Participates in High-Level Lancet Oncology Commission on Cancer Control in the Commonwealth.

Lymphoma Coalition’s CEO, Lorna Warwick was invited to serve as a Commissioner on the Lancet Oncology Commission, a collaborative research initiative established in February 2023.

This initiative addresses cancer care challenges across the 56 Commonwealth countries, advocating for evidence-based health systems and policies, and leveraging existing cooperation among member nations.

Lymphoma Coalition’s involvement ensures the patient voice and the essential role of patient organisations are central to the Commission’s discussions and recommendations. Recently, the Commission convened in London to advance this important work and engage with the Commonwealth Advisory Committee on Health for feedback on their progress.

The meeting concluded with a high-level event featuring remarks by Baroness Scotland, outgoing Commonwealth Secretary-General and founder of the Commission; Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization; and Ashley Dalton MP, the UK’s Minister for Public Health and Prevention, all affirming their commitment to equitable cancer care throughout the Commonwealth.

The Commission’s work is expected to conclude in June 2025, with its findings to be published shortly afterwards in The Lancet.
